One of the key objectives of Visionary Buluk Organization is social protection, especially for women and children. One way of assisting children in this regard is through education and sports. Research shows that doing sports make students healthier and better learners in the classroom. It offers a value-added proposition to every curriculum area; challenging critical thinking skills, decision-making, and moral reasoning as well as helping students satisfy their need to move and play, so they’re better prepared to focus and listen when they’re in the classroom.
In this light, the organization donated football and a complete set of jersey each to Alam Primary and Junior High Schools. Presenting the items to the schools, the Municipal Chief Executive and First headmaster of the school, Honourable David Amobil Afoko thanked Visionary Buluk for the donation and urged everyone to rally behind the activities of the organization as they compliment the work of the Municipal Assembly and that of the government as a whole. He also advised the schools to put the sports kits to good use to enhance learning and promote sports in the school. He emphasized that, Sport provides another pathway for the fulfilment of personal potential, such as becoming professional. Also, present were the Parent and Teacher Association (PTA) executives, the district P.E coordinator and members of staff for both schools.
Tree-planting has become a cornerstone in the fight against climate change. The call to plant trees is everywhere, seen as a simple and effective way to help reduce the impact of carbon emissions and restore our ecosystems.
Tom Crowther, a professor at the Crowther Lab, a research group based at ETH Zurich, urged hundreds of thousands of people who skipped school and work this year in a growing movement for climate action to start planting trees or funding such efforts.
The world has less than 10 years to halve carbon emissions to be on track to ensure global warming gets no higher than 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels. But we are destroying rainforests and cutting down trees that help store carbon at an alarming rate, exacerbating climate change.
Visionary Buluk organization has as one of its three goals to contribute to the fight against climate change through advocacy, sensitization and tree planting. In this light, the organization embarked on a tree planting exercise in the Builsa North District in the Upper East region – Ghana.
Trees were planted at Alam Primary and Junior High schools, the nursing training school under construction, and Radio Builsa. Tree seedlings were also donated to Lumen Mundi Foundation at Siniensi, a town in the Builsa district.
