Distribution of Sanitary Pads and Menstrual Hygiene Management

Promoting Hygiene and Empowerment in Builsa South District

The Visionary Buluk Organization, in collaboration with World Vision Ghana, has successfully implemented a program focused on enhancing hygiene practices and Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) education in the Builsa South District. This initiative is part of the broader Northern Ghana Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Operations.

Objective and Implementation The program aimed to foster positive behavior change among school girls and community members through educational sessions and practical demonstrations. Conducted from 13th to 19th February 2024, the program included radio outreach programs, school sessions, distribution of sanitary pads, and community engagement.

Outcomes and Impact Immediate outcomes included increased knowledge, improved hygiene practices, and better access to hygiene products. Medium-term outcomes are expected to lead to behavior change and reduced health risks, while the long-term impact focuses on sustainability, education, empowerment, and community development.

Recommendations and Future Plans The monitoring and evaluation team suggests continuous monitoring, impact evaluation, stakeholder engagement, capacity building, and a sustainability plan. These efforts aim to maintain the momentum of the project and expand its reach to more communities.

Conclusion The partnership between Visionary Buluk Organization and World Vision Ghana has made significant strides in promoting proper hygiene behavior, empowering adolescent school girls, and enhancing community well-being.

This post encapsulates the essence of the project, highlighting its objectives, implementation strategies, outcomes, and future recommendations. It’s designed to inform readers about the project’s success and ongoing commitment to community health and development.
